TICA Ragdoll Breeders Give Information On Ragdoll Cats

By Shawn Hunter

While most people are dog lovers, there are others who love cats. They are domesticated animals. They can be kept as indoor pets and have been considered as human companions for years. Even the great Cleopatra had a pet cat.

One popular breed that is kept as a pet is the Ragdoll cat. This cute fellow is large, easy going, semi longhaired with charming blue eyes. Although most cats are not very affectionate to humans, this breed is very fond of humans. Just like the dogs, this feline is known to approach and greet you, follow you around the house, cuddle and sleep with you, and play fetch. No wonder why people love them. The TICA Ragdoll breeders have been producing high breeds for many years.

This cutie originated in Riverside, California when Ann Baker developed it in 1960. She carefully chose three types of breed, all with gentle and placid traits. Josephine the cat was paired with Birman, Burmese, and Persian, until the Ragdoll is created.

Because it is friendly and gentle in nature, it can live harmoniously with children and other animals. There is nothing to worry about scratches in children because it does not resist when being dressed, played, or carried around. What makes it great is that it is known not to destroy things inside the house.

They are often compared to dogs because they are extremely friendly and intelligent. The full grown male can weigh as much as 20 pounds, while the female can weigh at about 10 to 15 pounds. They can live for 12 to 15 years.

They have 4 different cool body patterns, the pointed, lynx, bicolor, and mitted. The cat with a pointed pattern has a distinct dark coloring on its tail, ears, nose, and paws. Although the mitted is the almost similar with the pointed, a mitted Ragdoll has lines that run from the chin to its genitals, and a white tail and belly. The cat with a lynx pattern has lines on its body and the inner ear is white and a reddish brown nose. The bicolor feline has an overturned V shaped. Its belly and legs are colored white.

You do not have to worry about taking care of them. You can comb their fur once to twice a week. It only needs a bath when it starts to smell bad. It is also important to brush and clean their teeth so that your pet will not be exposed to an oral problem, such as the periodontal disease.

However, you need to be careful in feeding your pet. Do not feed them with foods high in sodium because they have been known to die from kidney problems. They are also known to suffer hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition where the walls of the heart become thickened. It needs to have a regular checkup. It can suffer HCM as early as six months. If not treated immediately, it can die by age 3.

Since they have different colors and patterns, so as its price, the breeder can only release it in their 12th week.. Visit the website for more details on Ragdolls.
