The Los Angeles Metalizing Process

Metalization is the method in which metal assemblies are secured by coating. The process, which is basically an auxiliary for painting is known to stay longer than other galvanising approaches. This is mostly completed at the creation site but is from time to time done at the site where the merchandise will be cast-off. This progression is accomplished through the use of agents such as Los Angeles metalizing.

Aluminium and zinc is applied on the metal by means of spraying hence it is known as a cold practice. The difference between galvanising and metalizing is that the former one employs the dipping of the metal into the molten solvent and bathing it. However, this process minimizes the damage and distortion posed by heat. The practice can be done all year considering there exist no limit to temperature.

The process of metalization is of different types. For instance, we have thermal spraying where heat is employed. The coating agent is melted into tiny droplets, and sprayed onto the surface of the steel in high speeds. The ideal agent should be on that is in powder form.

Thermal employment was initial known as Flame spraying. It basically made use of the same concept used in welding. The particles are then sprayed on the metals surface and this is done at high speeds. The coating fusses with the metal to create a better coat density and enhances the bond strength.

Another way is making use of electric wire. The wire is charged with electricity and then put into contact to create an arc. The droplets or powder is then sprayed carefully on the face of the metal. This is done at high speeds in order to atomize and propel the coating matter. This process enables for adjustments in that one gets the texture they want to achieve. Metals that make use of this method are aluminium and zinc among others.

High velocity oxy-fuel is another mode of heat treatment. Oxygen is combusted with either propane or hydrogen, depending on the availability. The process uses the basic principle of burning. However, its spray gun is differently designed than the normal spray gun for oxy-fuel. There is the production of higher temperatures and speeds. The result obtained is a well melted powder and some energy is available in order to flatten the solution. The bond achieved is much stronger than those reached in early processes.

There is also a vacuum machine that is used to achieve the process. In the chamber, an aluminium wire is put into a heat resistance evaporator to melt the material. The substrate is supported on a cold drum. This is passed on an evaporation source. The vapour condenses onto the surface to form the protective layer. The vacuum method is used to deliver appealing improvements. It also reduces oxygen and water vapour transmission to similar levels as that glass and metal containers. The packaging is also improved and enhances the shelf life of the product. Thereby, the quality is also improved.
