Discovering Blue Pitbull Puppies For Sale

One of the rarest animals considered a bully breed is that of the blue pit bull. It should be noted that there are two different designations with regard to the term blue when it comes to these animals. In some cases, the term refers to a blue rather than black snout. In others, it refers to a coloring which falls somewhere between blue and black or grey. As such, when looking at blue pitbull puppies for sale, it should be noted the color can fade to greyer tones over time.

Regardless of how an individual obtains a pet, one needs to understand the responsibility it takes to own one. For, a dog, cat or other pet, has to be fed, given water and exercised on a daily basis. Otherwise, owners will likely soon notice a number of behavioral problems. Unfortunately, whether due to being raised as a fighting dog, or neglect, many in this breed have had issues. As a result, many areas of the United States have now banned ownership or travel with a number of dogs considered "bullies."

For those interested in bully breeds, the American Pit Bull Terrier or Yankee Terrier, originally derived from crossing bulldogs with an older terrier line is often a good option. While these dogs often get a bad rap for being known as fighting dogs, the breed was first popular with farmers and ranchers. These first pit bull owners used the dogs for companionship, catching hogs and cattle and protection.

The breed generally has a height of 18-22 inches, and weighs between thirty to seventy pounds. Sizes can vary though as long as a dog's height and weight are proportionate the dog is considered normal. Some of the most common trademarks of the breed include straight forelegs, a broad head, wide cheeks, a short back and tail. In most cases, dogs of this breed will have a bobbed or full tail depending on the owner.

One thing to consider before acquiring a dog in this breed is the power and strength the dog will have once grown. For, while most puppies can be handled with ease, once the dog grows older, so too the power and strength. As such, those acquiring this breed need have the level of patience, strength and understanding to handle the animal on and off a leash.

The appearance of these animals often reflects a glossy, smooth and stiff short haired coat. As the coat is one of the primary aspects in the beauty of these animals, owners may want to provide coat beautifying dog food which is also nutritional. Owners also need to bathe or provide a sponge or wet-wipe bath on a regular basis to keep the breed feeling and spelling clean and fresh.

Different coloring can be found within the breed. Some of the most popular are brindle which can be seen as akin to calico coloring in some cats. The brindle pattern, sometimes known as tiger stripes is often a mix of colors inherited from the parents. As such, dogs who have a black mother dog, and a brown daddy dog are often black and tan.

Any dog has the potential to be a great pet or an aggressive bully. The media has a lot to do with these breeds getting a bad rap. While true that there are a number of dog attacks each year, only showing news stories related to pitbulls has increased fear among the masses. Otherwise, there would be as much fear of black labs, Australian shepherds and other breeds as blue pitbulls and rottweilers.
