How To Choose Perfect Custom Laminate Flooring

By Ainsley G. Zaver

Laminate flooring is a ribbon made of sturdy vinyl, which can cover durable plywood to increase its durability. It can be designed to imitate several ceramic tiles, wood, and stone flooring styles. Custom laminate flooring enhances the elegance of a building and addresses the preferences and lifestyle needs of homeowners. The floors exist in diverse colors and designs hence offer homeowners a chance to choose styles that appeal to them.

The most important feature of laminate floors is their affordability, high cleanliness standards, and easy to install nature. Since laminates are vital home investments, it is recommendable to choose those that are scratch resistant and durable. They exist in unique colors, designs, and shapes allowing clients to incorporate aspects of creativity during the custom-designing process. The customer can choose to describe the type of laminates she or he prefers to the manufacturer. Eventually, the manufacturer will develop flooring material that meets the description of the client. Alternatively, the customer can opt to acquire custom-made floors from the store.

Irrespective of laminates differing in designs, colors, and shapes, they fall into three primary categories: textured, smooth, and hand-scrapped. Textured ones resemble solid wood floors. Their top layer contains a robust finish, a natural appearance, and scratch resistance. Hand-scrapped types resemble the real wood, but they have a long lifespan. Their top layer looks like real wood.

The most common laminates are the smooth ones. They exist in various colors and smooth finishes purposely designed to replicate hardwood boards. Apart from having scratch resistant properties, smooth-types look natural and are affordable. Textured floors can have a prolonged lifespan when installed in high traffic sites like the hallways and living rooms.

Laminates are delivered in packages of boards. Each board contains an interlocking edge along its edge that seal securely when inserted into another board. Therefore, the locking mechanism, thickness, and quality of materials used are some key factors to consider during the purchase process. The boards must lock together firmly.

Homeowners are always spoilt for choices due to the existence of laminates in many colors and designs. Those that have a real antique effect are appropriate choices for rural buildings. Contemporary homes appear stunning when ultra-modern laminates are installed. Natural effect ones range from light, creamy, honeyed hue, to dark wood tunes.

The maintenance cost of laminate flooring is significantly lower. Nevertheless, preventive maintenance practice like cleaning must be carried out on a regular basis. To prevent the floors from developing scratches, the soft brush attachment should be used when vacuuming the house.
