For Quality Vinyl Siding Memphis Is Worth A Visit

By Andrew Wagner

Siding refers to the material that is installed or applied on the exterior side of the walls of a house to serve various purposes. Vinyl siding is made of a plastic external siding. It is becoming increasingly popular because of the benefits it offers to homeowners. When in need of vinyl siding Memphis is the best location to check out. Memphis is home to many service companies and specialists in these products. They produce, market, sell, market, and deliver among other services related to these products.

Vinyl sidings were introduced in the 1950s to replace aluminum ones. The company responsible for production was called Crane Plastics and it was located in Ohio. Mono-extrusion was the only method of production in use while color blending was manually done. This made the process highly ineffective, with low quality products produced. Improvements came in the 70s that led to improved impact resistance, color range, and production speed.

The modern mode of production is co-extrusion. This process involves laying down 2 layers of PVC in an extrusion process. The thickness of the top layer accounts for only 25 percent. The layer is durable and weatherable, with impeccable resistance to UV light. Vinyl sidings undergo weathering at a slower rate when compared to sidings made from other kinds of materials.

The slow rate of weathering makes producers to guarantee 50 years of beauty with only minimal weathering. Darker colors in older products faded more than lighter colors. However, as technology continues to advance, darker colors are as durable as light ones. In fact, darker-colored products can now remain in good condition for longer even though they cost more.

The second and lower layer of the extrusion is made of ground limestone, which makes about 15 percent. The reason for including limestone is to lower the cost and to balance titanium dioxide used in the upper layer. The balancing maintains the lower and upper layers in fluid state throughout the process of production. Stabilizers are used in the production process. The common stabilizers are tin mercaptan or butadiene.

Vinyl sidings are increasing in popularity because they offer several benefits that cannot be found in other products. First, they are very inexpensive to suit any budget. The various versions are suitable for people working on different budgets. Maintenance is also very low in this product. All one has to do is to spray clean once in a while when they catch dirt.

The installation process of vinyl sidings is cheap and simple. Specialty techniques or tools are not needed to accomplish the job. Panels are held in place using nails once they are joined by interlocking into one another seamlessly. One panel cover the nails in the other, resulting in a beautiful finish. This promotes organization and raises the cosmetic value.

However, there are certain safety and environmental concerns associated with vinyl. First, it is observed that fire can easily spread between two structures covered by this product in less than five minutes. Also, when burning, the product releases toxic fumes and smoke that contains hydrochloric acid in high amounts.
