Things You May Not Know About Blue French Bulldog Puppies

By Edward Williams

Skin color is what makes these puppies different. The blue skin color is thought to be caused a condition called alopecia but its due to genetics. The breeder associations are wary of this breed because they may not be the healthiest of animals. The breed is not bought to display in shows. However, the fact that they are cute, affectionate little dogs is what makes Blue French Bulldog puppies desirable.

These dogs have a warm, friendly temperament and thrive on oodles of attention. They have a masculine looking build, like all bulldogs, but this belies the fact their neediness, and cuteness means they are not suitable as guard dogs. Their cuteness, however, makes many people give them the attention they are always seeking.

The breed often has severe allergies and other health problems. As they are particularly prone to skin allergies, they may often have puffy eyes, rashes and more which may require a visit to the vet. Their diet also has to be carefully considered or they may have a reaction to what they eat. A low ingredient, organic diet is often best. They also often have neck and back issues because of their build. They can damage their spines easily when jumping off a couch or a bed.

Puppies of this breed prefer to stay clean and so you will not have to bathe them too often. The flat face of the breed does mean that they have difficulty breathing and make quite a noise when doing so. The owners have to become accustomed to some heavy breathing and snorting.

The puppies are actually English in origin, coming from a small area in England called Nottingham. They became very popular in the 1800s when they were well-loved as lapdogs. They were particularly popular with lace-makers.

The laziness of these animals is part of what makes them so easy to take care of. They do not need to be taken out on long, walks every day. They are perfectly happy to be in the home with their owners, often snuggled closely beside them or on their laps. They do not battle with obesity and remain healthy with only a short walk every now and then.

The fact that they do not have thick coats means that they become cold very quickly and this may be one reason why they prefer staying inside. They love the warmth of snuggling in a blanket or lying close to a human being and drawing from their warmth. Many owners dress them up warmly in a jacket, especially when they take them outdoors.

While some dogs enjoy water and love swimming, these dogs do not. They hate water and battle to swim with their short little legs. Owners need to take this into consideration if they have pools or live near water. The puppies often come with hefty price tags because breeders have to breed them specially and they may be difficult to find.
