Advantages Of Balustrade Systems Trade

By Scott Moore

Ever since stairs and terraces existed, there have been balustrades as they are designed to be grasped by the hand so as to provide support and balance to users in order to avoid accidents such as falling over stairs, balconies and terraces. The Balustrade Systems are specific to the installation companies as they work to design their own brands.

Balustrades, also known as handrails act as both a necessity and also as accessories to houses as they serve the purpose of safety and they bring a historical design as well.

The design and handwork of the spindles and handrails present the difference in the look of a building or house which it is installed. It brings out the plan and theme in accordance with the taste of a customer. For example, wooden rails bring out an old fashioned theme to a place and one may decide match the furniture to the handrails and colour of a house to finish up on the theme.

The names of the rails are derived from the materials that have been used to produce them. The specific designs are on the other hand formed by the difference in spindles, the installation institution have their own names that they brand to their unique designs with the materials that they work with. That they mostly issue to the companies who do brands and design to make for them.

The ones installed on staircases must be measured directly up from the nosing of the staircase running the entire length of the staircases, the top of the rail being between thirty-four and thirty-eight inches. The one that encloses the staircase is known as the rake balustrade and the one enclosing the edge is the return balustrade. Where the houses are elevated, or the lintel beams are unusually high, valences, which are panels fixed under the lintels to disguise the elevation angles can be fitted.

In the interior of houses and buildings, all manner of wood and other railing material may be used but maintenance should be of priority as they could wear and tear frequently due to frequent use. Both vertical and horizontal balusters may be used, however, vertical ones are most preferred as they offer more safety especially where children are involved as the horizontal ones may not be able to handle a lot of weight.

In exposed spaces, especially elevated applications exposed to rain, strong winds, and masses of people, who sometimes may be under pressure of some sort, for example, an emergency, specifications of the type of wood, glass or other materials should be considered at all times when installing the rails. They should be strong enough to handle high amounts of pressure, high wind velocity and strength and even long periods of heavy rain.

The railing material used for outdoor applications is however specific as they should be able to withstand extreme weather conditions and other natural calamities. They should be able to handle heavier volumes of pressure that can be exacted per square foot than the indoor balustrades. They are also exposed out in the open and so they may require to withstand long periods of moisture without difficulty.
